I've never tried Redken styling products, but I've tried their shampoos and I don't really like those. They don't lather up very well. This cream is really nice.

It has a subtle cologne smell that you don't notice at all after you put it in, and it's really creamy and easy to use.

The finish is legitimately matte also. Most products that claim to have a matte finish usually have a little shine, but this doesn't at all. Lastly, I would say that the hold is a true medium.
