Blitzcrank was once a golem built to clean up the toxic streets of Zaun. While working with the chemicals, he became defective and was thrown away to rot and die. That was until the inventor Viktor found him. Viktor took the golem in and rebuilt him, replacing old parts with new ones and adding in one final piece of technology to improve and automate the golem — Hextech. Hextech is the mineral that fuels Pilotver and Zaun, a crystal retrieved by killing thousands in Shurima.
With his new Hextech core, the golem became the most efficient machine in Zaun.
